Engineering Supervisor – Industrial Doors
The Engineering Supervisor role acts as a technical leader within the service team, working closely with management while remaining hands-on in the field.
Often described internally as a “mini Service Manager”, the position plays a key role in supporting engineers, improving technical capability across the team and ensuring service delivery runs smoothly.
This role combines technical support, engineer development, site audits, and operational coordination, while still remaining active on the tools and participating in the call-out rota.
In the early stages, the position will have a strong training and development focus, supporting the onboarding and cross-training of engineers joining the business.
Summary of Duties:
- Providing technical support and guidance to engineers in the field
• Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
• Liaising with planners to ensure engineers are matched with appropriate jobs based on skill set
• Delivering weekly toolbox talks to the engineering team
• Organising and coordinating external training courses
• Conducting side-by-side training with engineers in the field
• Supporting engineer onboarding and inductions
• Taking new starters through product training and academy sessions
• Performing regular site audits to maintain service standards
• Supporting engineers during their first 3 months in the business
• Managing technical escalations and supporting service delivery
• Working closely with management to identify training requirements within the team
• Attending weekly review meetings with management to discuss team performance and development needs
• Completing administrative tasks associated with training, audits, and engineer development
Team Structure:
This position will oversee and support a team of approximately 10 engineers across the South East region.
The role works closely with planners, engineers and management to ensure the team is operating efficiently and engineers are developing the skills required across multiple product disciplines.
Training & Development Focus:
Many new engineers joining the business have 2–3 years of experience, and this role will play a key part in helping develop their skills and technical knowledge.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing engineer inductions and onboarding processes
• Supporting new starters during their initial training period
• Delivering product training and academy sessions
• Assisting with cross-training engineers across product disciplines
Over time, as the team develops and engineers become fully cross-trained, the role will evolve further into a traditional Managing Engineer position.
Working Style:
This is a hands-on leadership role, meaning the successful candidate will:
- Remain active on the tools
• Support engineers directly in the field
• Participate in the call-out rota
• Balance technical leadership with administrative responsibilities
The role will require someone who is flexible and adaptable, willing to support the wider team where needed.
Managing Engineer Package Includes:
- Starting salary of £52,000
- Door to door pay
- £200 bonus for working nights
